Blank Capital is an independent equity research firm dedicated to uncovering high-conviction, asymmetric opportunities in the small and mid-cap markets. We exist to bridge the gap between institutional-grade forensic analysis and the retail investor.
While Wall Street focuses on the headlines and quarterly beats, we live in the footnotes. Our proprietary research methodology ignores the noise to focus on what actually matters: Quality of Earnings, Accounting Integrity, and Business Durability.
The Why
The financial world is incredibly loud.
Cable news screams "Buy" and "Sell" from the moment the bell rings. Social media thrives on urgency, anxiety, and the fear that you are missing out on the next big thing.
I built Blank Capital to offer a quiet alternative.
Think of this site as a study at the back of the house. Here, we turn down the volume. We pour a cup of coffee. We ignore the flashing lights and focus on the steady, boring work of reading the footnotes, because that is usually where the truth is hiding.
The Work
I view investing as a craft of patience.
My process is simple, but it takes time. I spend my mornings reading 10-Ks, parsing lease accounting disclosures, and tracking related-party transactions. I look for the details that algorithms miss: the cash flow conversion, the inventory build-ups, and the management incentives.
I do this because you deserve to know exactly what you own. When you read a report from me, you are getting a forensic breakdown of a business, written by someone who has done the reading.
The "Insider" Perspective
I learned to read the numbers from the inside out.
For 15 years, I worked in the engine room of corporate finance. I managed a $1.6 billion business unit at Northrop Grumman and started my career at Citi.
I saw how the sausage was made. I learned how companies can massage their earnings to hit a target, and I learned how to spot it when they do. I learned that Net Income is an opinion, but Cash Flow is a fact.
Now, as a CMA (Certified Management Accountant), I use that experience to protect your capital.
The Analyst
"I write this newsletter from my desk in Chanhassen, MN, usually with a strong coffee in hand. My goal is simple: to help you see the risks that Wall Street is ignoring."
— Marques Blank, MBA, CMA
The BC Framework
Every stock I look at goes through a rigorous stress test. To keep things objective, I score every company on a 1–100 scale based on three pillars of safety.
Methodology
The BC Scorecard
We look for durability. Does the company have a moat? Is management honest? Is the cash flow real?
Price matters. A great company is a bad investment if you overpay. We demand a margin of safety.
The "Sleep Well" factor. We hunt for red flags, aggressive revenue recognition, and opaque footnotes.
